12/1/09: Obama Fails to Mention Victory in Afghanistan Speech
You won't be seeing a similar headline anytime soon...
President Obama stopped dithering on Afghanistan, opting to send 30,000 additional troops to the region.
He was uncharacteristically specific on certain topics - outlining a strategy to target "violent extremists" in population centers. He also put a time limit on the mission, announcing a withdrawal that will begin in 18-months.
But he didn't mention the word "victory." Not once.
See for yourself - the text of the speech is here. Do a Ctrl+F and look for "victory." It's not there.
He also didn't mention the words "win" or "winning."
This should come as no surprise - Obama has made it very clear that he disagrees with the entire concept of victory.
