President Obama tried to float his proposed spending freeze during the State of the Union address. The response from Congress was equal parts hilarious and sad - they LAUGHED at him:
This is the same "spending freeze" that was exposed last week on Rachel Maddow's TV show. You'll remember that it was Biden's economic advisor Jared Bernstein who explained to Maddow that the freeze is an aggregate freeze, which allows the president to slash programs he doesn't like while increasing spending on Obama-approved programs. And of course, the freeze doesn't touch healthcare, the current and future stimulus plans and national security. And it doesn't take a genius to realize that Obama will move quickly to classify green jobs as a vital national security issue once the spending freeze is in place.
