2/14/10: iPod Stimulus Fail (Update)
Remember when it was revealed that a school district in Florida was using stimulus funds to give iPods to residents? Yeah, well, they aren't doing that anymore... For now, at least:
The Polk County school district has decided to suspend a program that would have given away iPod Nanos to some parents. The school district was going to use the device to reward parents of children with disabilities who filled out a 10-minute online survey.

Before we go any further, consider that an iPod Nano retails for about $130. A ten-minute survey takes - approximately - 10 minutes to complete. That is one-sixth - or 16.7% - of one hour.
$130 x 6 = $780
That's an hourly wage of $780. Give or take. Nice.
So this iPod nonsense is over, right? No, no, no. Assistant Superintendent Nancy Woolcock is hinting she will do it all again NEXT YEAR:
Woolcock still said it was a good idea and she plans to get those disabled students iPods next year.

Er... Uh... No, it WASN'T a good idea...
These idiots never learn.
