3/31/10: Obama Says "Drill Baby Drill" (But Not Really...)

Well, look who's going all "Drill Baby Drill" up in here:

Later on this morning President Obama will be announcing his support off-shore oil drilling. His announcement will open a door to expanded off-shore oil-drilling on the Atlantic coast and in the Gulf of Mexico. In his announcement Obama will propose further investigations of possible oil rich areas.

Yeah... riiiiight. President Bow n' Tax is suddenly pro-oil. You just know there's something more to this:

The Obama administration is fully aware and is confident that environmentalists will stop in their tracks for years to come through court action any investigative studies into oil exploration.

A ruse... A distraction... A diversion... A lie. Call it what you want, but this is not the energy policy that the Obama administration would like you to believe it is.

This charade is reminiscent of President Obama's Big Nuclear Lie, in which the president announced his support for building nuclear energy plants, just months after his energy secretary Steven Chu shut down the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage facility. In effect, the decision to shut down Yucca Mountain means there are no places to storage nuclear waste in the long-term and any attempt to build new plants or new storage facilities will be met with protracted legal battles that could go on for years.

This is the same thing... Same. Exact. Thing.
